self portraits.

ただでさえ、絵を描き人にそれを見せるという行為は、人に自分の裸の心を見せるようなものであり、そのうえselfportraitsというものは、なんというがまの油のようなものか、と思う。

Painting and exhibiting is already an act of stripping your naked heart.

On top of it, I feel that the painting of self-portrait is such an masochistic act like gaining your own "gama no abura". 

*gama no abura, or toad's oil .... is reputed to be a powerful aphrodisiac, and this ancient secret medicine was gathered by placing a poor toad in the middle of house of mirrors and made him sweat like hell staring millions of his own reflections.
